Nervous about your baby’s vaccine appointment? Here’s how you can make it a positive experience for you and baby.
Things you can GIVE your baby to help:
- You can apply a numbing cream to your child’s injection site about 45 minutes before the needle.
- You can mix a sweet solution at home with 1 tsp of sugar and 2 tsp of water and give it to your baby about 1-2 minutes before the needle
- You can nurse or bottle feed your baby about 5 minutes before the vaccination and continue feeding throughout.
Things you can DO for your baby to help:
- Assess your Anxiety
- Breathe deeply if you are feeling stressed
- Hold your baby in a calm, close, cuddle position
- Distract your baby
