Dr. Chambers: How do parents prepare kids to get vaccinated?

Share:

A parent’s job is TOUGH. So much is going on that it can be hard to remember to let kids in on the vaccination plan.

But having an open conversation with your kids about the shot and why they’re getting it builds confidence. Combine that chat with some other strategies like distraction and relaxation, and you’re set to have a good experience that will set them up for the future.

Dr. Christine Chambers ( @drcchambers ) spoke at our #KidsVaccinesDay event in January. She is a PhD Psychologist and Scientific Director of both Solutions for Kids in Pain AND the CIHR Institute of Human Development, Child and Youth Health. She’s also a Professor and Tier 1 Canada Research Chair at Dalhousie University.

All that to say, she knows what’s up when it comes to needle pain and fears.
