Left Brain Right Brain

Share:

There have been countless tests online that claim to determine whether you are left-brained or right-brained, from optical illusions, to how you move your hands, what colour you see, and even how you draw a circle (clockwise or counterclockwise). However fun these are, they don’t tell you anything about your brain’s “inclinations” as there is no such thing as one side being the dominant one.

We use all of our brain, both hemispheres, just like we use 100% of our brain, and not just 10%, which is another common brain myth.

While people might use a figure of speech, such as being “right-brained” or “left-brained”, to talk about more creative and artful endeavours versus more analytical and logical ones, that’s not how it actually works. Both hemispheres of the brain communicate within and between each other to perform our daily tasks.

In fact, some research suggests that the stronger the neural network connections across hemispheres, the more creative the person can be (whether to solve logic problems or to make art)

What other phrases have you heard or used yourself that are useful, but you are not sure if it is based on sound scientific principles?
