Ever wonder how the funding process works?

Getting grant money requires a lot of work, so much that some people make a living out of writing grant proposals. The process is also highly competitive, which is why being awarded funding is often considered a really big deal. But being funded does not mean you are doing the person’s bidding. More often than not, the funding agency plays an administrative role once the funds are awarded, making sure the money is well spent and the deliverables are met.

However, it has been shown in the past that funding can sometimes be biased. It happens more frequently when the funders might profit or suffer from the outcomes of the project.
