COVID-19 isn’t your favourite band – you don’t want its new releases. So how do we stop variants from evolving? (Hint: Vaccines!)
Misinformation has been spreading that COVID-19 vaccines cause the virus to mutate in dangerous ways. This is FALSE! Vaccines aren’t antibiotics, and vaccine resistance is extremely rare.
So how do vaccines help prevent new variants from mutating? We’re glad you asked!
- Vaccines reduce the likelihood of transmitting COVID to those around you (4). Less transmission = fewer chances to mutate!
- Even when transmission occurs, vaccines lower the likelihood of the SARS-CoV-2 virus mutating (5)!
So if you don’t want to see COVID drop any new albums, the best thing you can do is get vaccinated. You’re protecting yourself and everyone around you!
