Vaccine hesitancy in parents Part 2

Have you ever had a discussion with a parent that is vaccine hesitant and didn’t know what to say to help them?

Dr. Cora Constantinescu, pediatric infectious disease physician at Alberta Children’s Hospital and University of Calgary (@UCalgary), is here to give you a few tips.

• Listen to their concerns with empathy and try to understand where they’re coming from and what is worrying them.
• Adapt the information you will pass on so that it answers their specific concern.
• Sharing with them your own experience, why you have vaccinated your children and what was the motivation behind your decision can also help.
• You can ask if they know how and where they can make a vaccination appointment, and offer to help if they don’t.
