How to be a good ally

Share:

Pride season is still going strong!🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️.

Pride season is about celebrating and coming together to showcase the talent, resilience and the contributions of the 2SLGBTQIA+ communities (12).

Pride events are important tools in the fight for 2SLGBTQIA+ rights. They are empowering as they give us opportunities to speak up and call out inequities. They are also a good reminder that rights should never be taken for granted (13).

Unfortunately the struggles and challenges of members of the LGBTQ+ communities won’t end with pride season in September. The fight for 2SLGBTQIA+ rights, for civil rights, is a constant fight – one that the community can’t win without allies (4).

Whether you are starting your journey toward allyship or simply trying to be better at it, we hope you will find useful information in this post.

Don’t forget that the key of allyship is to be open to learning. Don’t hesitate to reach out to us in the comments or in our DM. We are happy to help answer any questions you might have!

We’d like to give a big thank you to GRIS-Montréal @gris_montreal for this collaboration 🧡
