Let’s break down what Eco-anxiety is

Share:

Living through an ecological crisis can bring out big emotions. Many of us are experiencing eco-anxiety, but what exactly is that? How is it different from climate anxiety? Is it a real thing? What are the symptoms? What can trigger it?

Those are all questions we are answering in this post.

While eco-anxiety makes us feel unsafe in our environment based on potential future events, experiencing climate disasters can cause trauma and alter our perception of safety more drastically (3).

If you think you might be experiencing eco-anxiety or trauma following a climate crisis, know that you are not alone. We will have a follow up post shortly on ways to help you cope with eco-anxiety.

Know that there are also trained climate therapists you can talk to (check out our resources to find a climate therapist near you (10)).
