Psychological experimental research on 1,400 Americans (recruited through Prolific) found participants more likely to accept information aligned with a group assigned to them than to information not in alignment with their assigned group. This research helps to confirm the idea of “partisan bias,” which argues that people more likely accept information which protects their group identity than information which opposes it.
