
“It’s all in your head.”
People who experience Premenstrual syndrome (PMS) hear this kind of comment far too often.
PMS is very real, and around 3 in 4 people with periods have experienced it (8). Irritability, anxiety, mood swings, fatigue, headaches, bloating, changes in appetite… These are all very real symptoms.
Science is still searching to understand the exact mechanisms of PMS, but its existence as a real condition is not up for debate (8,9).
Today, questioning the reality of PMS or those who experience it is to deny decades of research.
